Pair of Victorian Staffordshire figures by the Parr manufactory of Don Quixote and his sidekick Sancho Panza, c.1850. Brightly painted in colours all around.
Reference Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875 Book 1 by A.& N. Harding figure 987 and 988.
Don Quixote measures 24cm (9 1/2") high, 19cm (7 1/2") long and 9cm (3 1/2") wide. Sancho Panza is 19.5cm (7 3/4") high, 15cm (6") long and 7.5cm (3") wide.
Condition is very good but there has been some areas of professional restoration to Don Quixote: a repair to his left leg with associated over-painting and his right foot has been restored. There may have been some re-painting of the black of the ears of Sancho Panza's horse but no restoration I can detect. A few small paint flake losses but surface wear in the main is very good to both.
