A charming Minton biscuit model of a setter dog lying on a tasselled cushion, c.1831-1840. Illustrated in "Dogs In English Porcelain of the 19th Century" by Dennis G. Rice, colour plate 171, page 107. It is noted the peculiarity of a sporting type dog having been modelled lying on a tasselled cushion more appropriate for lap dogs.

Provenance: Dennis G. Rice collection.

It measures 12.5cm (4 7/8") long, 5.7cm (2 1/4") wide and 5.7cm (2 1/4") high.

Condition is very good with no damage, repairs or restoration. There is a very fine, tight hairline over the muzzle and another part way across the shoulders. A couple of tiny spots of discolouration to the base and small areas of discolouration to the back and right ear. A few specks of black kiln dust are also present dotted about.
