A fine Derby porcelain model of a standing ewe bending forwards to graze. Set on a naturalistic base with central support disguised as a tree trunk, lightly washed in green enamel and decorated with small leaf arrangements. The ewe sparsely decorated in with very fine modelled detail and a perfectly painted face. c.1760-1765.
Provenance: Ex Dennis G Rice Collection and Ex Simon Spero.
She measures 7cm (2 3/4") high, 10.3cm (4 1/8") long and 5.5cm (2 1/8") wide.
Condition is very good. There are two chips on the under edge of the base just in front of the "trunk" and another to the reverse in a similar position. There are also chips to the tips of the ears and a fine hairline across her back left leg. No repairs or restoration and handling wear is light.
