Superb large hand painted Lille wall plaque, c.1890, with ornate shaped rim. Finely detailed scene of a village with a bridge and river and the locals going about their business, boating, fishing with a long pole and conversing, while a mother duck and her ducklings swim past. The outer part has architectural structures decorated with feathery purple scrolls and arabesques, scattered fishing nets, pot and baskets hanging from trees and stylised dolphin fountains. A pale yellow ground border with flowers and foliage decorates the rim with gilded touches. Marked to the back with the Lille 1767 mark in black.

It measures 37.5cm (14 3/4") by 31cm (12 1/4") wide and 1cm (3/8") deep.

Condition is excellent with no damage bar a small glaze chip to the back and very light surface wear. The whole surface is lightly crazed as is common with these faience type wares.
