Stunning ornate English silver gilt cup and cover after the 17th/18th century pineapple cups of Nuremberg. Reverse pear shape with lobed foot, body and lid with embossed and engraved decoration throughout. Masked creatures form the pedestal stem and a fancy knop finishes the lid. Fully gilded inside and parcel gilt outside with the lobes left silver creating a beautiful contrast.
Hallmarked for London 1862, makers Daniel & Charles Houle.
It measures 10 1/4" high and 4 1/2" wide and weighs 556/17.9ozt.
ondition is excellent with no damage, just a couple of tiny dints here and there. The gilding is good throughout.
