A superb early Royal Crown Derby bone china porcelain stemmed wine cup, with gadrooned type moulding around the foot and beaded knop to the stem. The factory produced these goblets for many years up until quite recently, but this is one of the very earliest produced, a rarity dating from c.1950.

Hand painted with a decadent imari inspired pattern with rich underglaze mazarine blue panels, reserving white and red flowers on a scrolling gilt vine, and white reserved panels with stylised exotic flowers in red enamel, gilt and underglaze blue, set against an abstract gilt and red background. An alternating border of reserved lozenges and flowers sit inside blue squares, separated with gilt patterned. strips The stem and foot covered with the rich blue ground and hand gilded with sprigs and dots and highlighting the moulded features and rims. Printed backstamp with pattern number 2451 and individual decorator's and gilder's marks.

It measures 12cm (4 3/4") high and 8.5cm (3 3/8") wide. It holds 250ml to the brim, so a very practical size for a very decadent glass of wine.

In perfect condition with no damage, repair etc. and no discernible handling wear, it has been minimally used, if at all. It would make a wonderful gift, of fine quality and with rare age, perfect for a wine lover.
