A pretty Grainger's tea cup and saucer in the Gloster shape, c.1835, painted with a central vignette of exotic birds in rainbow colours perched in gilt branches. Deep underglaze blue border wiith moulded, shaped rim with beaded reserve in pale yellow enamel and gilt edged. A grape vine frieze runs along the lower edge of the blue framing the central reserve. The cup with further gilt pattern around the outside and around the handle. Pattern number under the saucer.
The saucer measures 14.7cm (5 3/4") wide and 2.7cm (1 1/16") high and the cup measures 10.6cm (4 1/8") rim to rim and 5.1cm (2") high to the rim.
In good overall condition: the saucer has a short tight hairline from the rim and the cup has three. Both pieces with fine even crazing. Very minor handling wear.
