Pretty Derby coffee can with an all over salmon ground with bold gilded decoration.
Red mark, c.1810.
It measures 6.3 (2 1/2") high, foot to rim, 6.7cm / (2 5/8") rim to rim and 9cm (3 1/2") rim to handle.
Sadly the handle has been restored and the whole over-painted although it seems to all be porcelain underneath so it was probably just a fairly small repair with an unnecessary amount of over-painting. There is a small area of enamel loss on one side which has has a little touching up of the gilding. Otherwise the surface wear is pretty good mainly some rubbing to the gilding around the foot and at a couple of places on the rim and the surface overall is lightly crazed. No longer perfect but a very pretty and unusual pattern and still displays well from several angles.
