SOLD

A beautifully decorated Coalport cup and saucer in the "antique" shape, c.1825, with a flared and fluted shape, shaped rims, and the cup with a squared handle and foliate moulded upper terminal. Decorated in pattern number 2/26 with a rich underglaze mazarine blue ground reserving four white panels finely painted in enamels with richly coloured garden flowers. The blue ground liberally covered with an ornate gilt design and further gilded pattern running as a frieze around the outside of the cup and finishing with a gilded handle and concentric rings to the centre of each piece. Each marked with the pattern number in gilt to the base (very faint to the cup).

The saucer measure 14.8cm (5 7/8") wide and 2.5cm (1") high. The cup measures 6cm (2 3/8") high to the handle and 9cm (3 1/2") rim to rim.

Condition is very good with no damage or repair but the cup has a very short tight glaze line off the rim on the outside. Some minor wear to the gilding mainly to the centre of the saucer.
