Code: FA0861
A pretty Caughley porcelain coffee cup and saucer, c.1785-1790, with external "Dresden flowers" decoration in underglaze blue with the addition of gilding (likely having been outsourced to the Chamberlain factory for the gilding). The inside rim has a wide blue band with gilded bird's eye border, gilded conjoined dotted border and gilded rim.
Both pieces have the underglaze blue S mark to the base.
The cup measures 6.6cm (2 9/16") high, 6.9cm (2 11/16") rim to rim and 9.2cm (3 5/8") wide. The saucer measures 3.3cm (1 1/4") high and 13.8cm (5 7/16") wide.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration and light surface wear, just a little rubbing to the gilding on the high points of the rims.
