Very pretty Georgian cream jug of unusual bulbous form with round belly and deep straight neck with stepped, sparrow beak spout and set on a collet foot. The neck has a reeded band and the body has embossed swagged ribbons with bows and smaller punched bands around the base, rim and shoulders. Finished with a simple applied strap handle with cast grooves.
Hallmarked for London 1801, maker's initials sadly part obscured.
It measures 4" high and 3 1/2" across the body, 4" handle to spout. It carries 1/2 a pint to the rim and weighs 157g/5.1ozt.
Condition is very good; very light surface marks but a little rubbing to the decoration in places, mainly to the band around the rim.
