Pretty mirror pair of small Japanese cloisonne vases dating from the Meiji period c.1890. Set on a bronze vase base, the predominant colours are black and a rich red-brown around the shoulders. Contrasting decoration of pale pink blossom flowers and green leaves and patterned circles of turquoise blue, cream, green, pink and red. 2 larger circles on opposing sides, one with blossom against a blue sky and the other of grapes and a vine leaf against the sky.
They measure 5" high and 2 1/2" wide.
Condition is very good; there are just 2 very small and discreet losses to the enamel. No dents, cracks or repairs.
