SOLD

Stylish silver mounted cut glass claret jug. Hobnail and diamond cut pattern around the body and fine star cut base complemented by a simple strap handle. The lid has a feather type pouring tab with pierced detail.

Hallmarked for Sheffield 1932, maker Viners Ltd (Emile Viner) to the side and separately inside the lid.

It measures 25.5cm (10") high, 12cm (4 3/4") wide across the base and 14cm (5 1/2") spout to handle. It has a 1 1/2" pint/850ml capacity up to the bottom of the silver.

Condition is very good with no damage to glass or silver and with appropriate surface wear from age and use. There is a tiny machine cut nick on one side of the handle which is original and this appears magnified and refracted in one angle appearing in those photos as a possible crack but that is just an illusion.
