Regency Chamberlain Worcester Porcelain Coffee Cup & Saucer C.1820

Regency Chamberlain Worcester Porcelain Coffee Cup & Saucer C.1820

Code: FA0515

SOLD

Pretty early 19th century Chamberlain coffee cup and saucer in a flared bucket type shape with pinched loop handle and gadrooned rims. A rich blue ground with raised white enamel dots on the outside and finely painted with floral sprays inside the cup and centre of the saucer. Set off with gilded borders.

The saucer is marked with pattern number 1687 in purple.

The cup measures 2 3/4" (7cm) high, 4" (10cm) rim to handle and 3" (7.8cm) rim to rim. The saucer is 5 3/4" (14.5cm) wide and 5/8" (1.7cm) high.

Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Some of the white dots have been crushed, a couple on the cup but mainly on the saucer understandably. The enamels are lovely and bright with minimal surface wear. A little wear to the gilding in places. There is a short firing line inside the base of the cup. Also, one of the points is distorted at the edge of the saucer but this is under glaze and the decoration matches the shape so this is also original to the piece I believe.
