Bow Porcelain Leaf Dish Two Quail Pattern C.1755

Bow Porcelain Leaf Dish Two Quail Pattern C.1755

Code: FA0394

SOLD

Large Bow porcelain leaf shape bowl decorated with the Quail pattern in polychrome enamels in the kakiemon palette, c.1755. The pattern depicts 2 quails sitting on the ground under an exotic tree with oriental shrubs, flying insects and an iron red patterned border inside the rim. Gilded highlights to the border and some of the flowers.

It measures 10" long by 9 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" deep.

Condition is very good but there is a section of over-spraying in the centre of the dish front and back along with repainted blue bug which suggests some restoration but I can't detect any actual body repair underneath so I can't fully describe what has happened but it certainly doesn't seem extensive. Otherwise no damage and very light surface wear to the enamel. Some rubbing to the glaze on the rim in a few places and a small firing fault under the decoration.
