Fabulous, very large lozenge shaped silver table box with embossed lid depicting a scene of a family gathered at the foot of a tree, the mother with a basket of food and her children around her, a girl stroking some lambs in the foreground and 2 toddlers trying to climb the tree. The scene extends to show a landscape with fields and buildings with nicely engraved detail. Nicely shaped fluted sides with embossed swags on all sides.
Gilded inside and marked to the reverse with marks for Hanau, 830 standard. Dates to c.1900.
It measures 23cm long, 13cm wide and 5cm high and weighs 539g/17.3ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage or repairs. The lid loses flush. There is just light surface wear to the embossed detail at the highest points.
