Unusual Wedgwood card tray utilising a previously used majolica shape with a more naturalistic colour-way, Japanese inspired with moulded bamboo rims and split form handle with blue ribbon in the centre. The white ground is painted with hummingbird, butterfly and grasses with moulded bamboo leaves around the edges. Impressed factory marks to the back include the date code for 1874.
It measures 25.5cm (10") wide and 10cm (4") high.
Condition is good: there has been a repair to the top of the handle to the side of the ribbon. No other damage or restoration (bar 2 small nicks to the foot rim) and there a few small paint losses to the raised decoration on the bamboo leaves and black spots on the butterfly's wings.
