Code: FA0743
Dimensions:
An attractive set of George III silver trencher salts of typical octagonal form, with stepped waisted sides and gilt wash interior.
One is hallmarked for London 1769, makers David Hennell I & Robert Hennell I, and the other for London 1772, maker Thomas Shepherd.
They measure 8cm (3 1/8") long, 6.5cm (2 1/2") wide and 3.5cm (1 3/8") high. They weigh combined 182g/5.9ozt.
Condition is very good but they have both had a small professional repair. The Hennell one there is evidence of work to the rim on one side and the Shepherd one has a repair to the inside of the bowl on one corner. On the opposing side of this salt, there is a small convex dimple like a reversed dent and a little scuffing so this may also be a small repair or just a knock; I can't tell for certain. No current damage, surface wear is light and the hallmarks are all pretty clear.
